Weathered Blue Bulletin Board Makeover

If you've been following along with my projects, you know we've been working on giving my 8-year-old's room a bigger big boy makeover.

I converted a metal stool into an industrial side table.  And I restyled an MCM dresser into a Restoration Hardware-inspired piece, which you can see here.

He's been using this green bulletin board to hold his junk, I mean stuff, and the color doesn't match the new navy & gray color scheme.

After removing everything from the bulletin board, I taped off around the edges.  I started by painting General Finishes Klein Blue as a base coat. Next, using a damp sponge, I wiped on a thin layer of Corinth Blue.  Since the sponge was damp while applying Corinth Blue, it gently distressed the two layers of blue paint to the original color creating a weathered finish.

Boy, these green walls have got to go!  My next project is definitely painting his room with Sherwin Williams Silver Strand.  I'm not sure I can stand looking at this for much longer.

Triple Threat is building industrial shelving over the dresser so the bulletin board will move to another wall.  In case you missed the ketchup and mustard finish on it before, you can see it here

If you're doing a room makeover and the accessories no longer work, you can always PAINT them!   I wish I would've painted the bulletin board years ago because I never really cared for the green.

I have a few more small projects to finish before sharing the final room makeover reveal so stay tuned!
